Lanes Cove Carriage House - Perfect for Family Vacations, Reunions, & Retreats

 

This lovely roomy 1800s carriage house with ocean views has been completely renovated and converted to a beautiful three level vacation home with two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. It offers so many upscale amenities, including a gas fireplace, a Jacuzzi, 3 large LED TVs, wireless broadband, dishwasher, garbage disposal, washer/dryer, a Sleep Number king bed, and much more.

It has central air conditioning and heating, and an air handling system.

It comfortably sleeps 6, with a king-sized bed, two twin beds and a set of bunk-beds.

Architect Jonathan Poore, General Contractor John Nicosia, and Interior Designer Cynthia Curcio of Four Lexington

all worked their magic to convert a great old barn into this lovely space, yours to enjoy by the week or the season.

The area around the Carriage House was designed by Kate Wiggin of KW Landscapes and includes boulder terraces,

lovely gardens, ocean views and a lawn area with a grille and patio furniture.

Beyond that is a natural area with a short trail meandering to the cove on Ipswich Bay.

The Living Room/Dining Room

On the main level, pass through the welcoming entry into a large, sophisticated living room-dining room combination.

The comfortable living room sleep sofa faces a 47 inch wall-mounted LCD HDTV and a DVD player. A red leather club chair provides

additional seating for enjoying the view of the ocean, the TV, or the ambiance of the gas fireplace. The large unique square dining table seats six to eight on leather covered Parsons chairs. There is also a convenient half bath on this level.

 

The Kitchen

This very efficient kitchen is furnished with all the expected appliances, tools and linens

for cooking, serving, and cleaning, including all the kitchen gadgets known to man,

except for a melon-baller or cherry-pitter, where I finally drew the line.

The Second Bedroom Suite

                                                              

Such a fun room! It holds 4 twin beds, 2 of which are set up as bunks. The 1970s décor will make you smile.

Its vivid colors, fluffy throw pillows and colorful polar fleece throws stop just short of outrageous.

The bathroom is decorated in the same theme, with fabulous colors in towels, shower curtain, and accessories.

The clincher is lime green Flokati rugs – great for bare feet.Those occupying this suite have a 32 inch LCD HDTV and DVD player, and can plug their electronic devices into two 4-port charging stations, and their iPod in the Sony radio/alarm clock dock. Best of all, it’s located on the lowest level, separated from the master bedroom –

a peaceful and private advantage for two generations or two couples. The new mini-ductless system

handles heat, AC, and eliminates dampness. There's also a small terrace outside the sliding glass door.

 

The Master Bedroom Suite

The best is saved for last. Just wait until you see this room which was once the hayloft!

Now it holds an upholstered king-sized bed with a Sleep Number mattress, adjustable for two different firmness levels

A beautiful dresser with a cedar-lined drawer, an antique desk, and two stylish chairs round out the furniture.

Electronics include a 32" LCD-TV, another 4-port charging station, another radio/alarm with an iPod dock, and one of the

three telephones. A large double window shows views of the ocean cove, and two skylights provide astonishing natural light.

 

 

The Master Bathroom

A third skylight and another window allow that same beautiful light into the luxurious master bathroom. Relax in the double Jacuzzi tub or refresh in the large separate shower. The beautiful mirror, many cabinets, fluffy towels, and a Flokati rug complete the picture.

The Apartment - a Second, Smaller Vacation Rental

Lanes Cove Apartment - The Newest Addition!

This trendy little apartment is located on the lower level of the main house.It offers a deck with views

of the ocean a full size kitchen, one bedroom, a bathroom, a living room with a dining area,

and a sliding door leading to the private deck. The living room and kitchen also have wonderful ocean views.

  The photos make the rooms look larger than they actually are but the space works nicely. It's just right for 2 people,

but an adult or 2 young children can sleep on the slide-out sleep sofa. If you prefer larger spaces, I suggest

that you look at the Carriage House photos above.

The Living Room and the Dining Area

The living room opens to the deck. Beyond that are several beautiful gardens.

The sectional sofa in the living room slides open into a full size bed.

 

The Kitchen

The Bedroom

Notice the antique mirrored chest in this comfortable bedroom. The charming iron bed

is full-size, with a firm mattress and a removable puffy mattress topper There is ample

lighting for reading in bed and for dressing. The room also includes a full length mirror

and a chair. The bathroom is nicely decorated, spotless and in excellent condition.
