A Note to Past and Future Friends

October 2011

   I send a cheery "Hello" to all of you,  whether you're friends from the past or friends of the future.

   In the past, I've written about how beautiful it is        

up in Cape Ann during the winter. From Lanes

Cove House I'd watch the breakers smash against

the sea wall and spray high in the air. The power of

the swells moving across the cove, and the night

winds whistling through the enormous oaks and

maples on my property were thrilling.

   However, I'm "of a certain age" now and I prefer

the warm sun of Florida during the winter, thank you

very much. Now I enjoy one or two beautiful not-too-cold snowfalls that melt away in two or three days - and that's it! I'll be flying south on December 1.

   I know, I'm a traitor to my life-long New England  history. However, I'll be back on April 31, eager to see you all. The Apartment, and the Barn ("Carriage House") will be ready for you, and I'm pleased to take your calls and emails for reservations

at any time of the year.

    Many previous renters plan to return each year and it's always such a pleasure to see them again. Some are returning because they have work in the area, or have children in one of the nearby colleges, or have family and friends in the area. But most come once again to enjoy the view of the cove, the wonderful sunsets, the quaint areas, the whales, kayaking, the beaches and all the other pleasures of Gloucester, Rockport and the rest of Cape Ann.
