A Note to Past and Future Guests for

2010

   I send a cheery "Hello" from Florida to all of you,  whether you're friends from the past or friends of

the future.

   In the past, I've written about how beautiful it is

up in Cape Ann during the winter. From Lanes

Cove House I'd watch the breakers smash against

the sea wall and spray high in the air. The power of

the swells moving across the cove, and the night

winds whistling through the enormous oaks and

maples on my property were thrilling.

   However, I'm "of a certain age" now and I prefer

the warm sun of Florida during the winter, thank you

very much. Now I enjoy one or two beautiful not-too-

cold snowfalls that melt away in two or three days -

and that's it!

   I know, I'm a traitor to my life-long New England  history. However, I'll be back in April, eager to see

you all. The B&B, the Apartment, and the Barn ("Carriage House") will be ready for you, and I'm pleased to take your calls and emails for reservations

at any time of the year.

   My lovely old barn has been fully converted to a

great vacation home with two bedrooms and two

and a half baths, and the newly renovated trendy apartment in the main house has one bedroom and one bathroom. Both of these units have been stylishly furnished and decorated and both look wonderfu, with great views of the oceanl

The Barn and the Apartment are available for self-hosted stays for those people who prefer that arrangement rather than the B&B experience. You're welcome to inquire about either the lovely B&B, the trendy Apartment, or the fabulous Barn (which is definitely not rustic).

    Do come visit. As always, I intend to pamper you at breakfast with premium coffees and teas, a selection of juices, my own home-made granola, cereals, yogurt, various toasting breads, fresh fruit and toppings and my own scones, freshly baked each morning. The guestrooms also offer premium amenities, including that rarity, triple-sheeted beds.     

     Many previous guests plan to return next year and it's always such a pleasure to see them again. Some are returning because they have work in the area, or have children in one of the nearby colleges, or have family and friends in the area. But the majority come once again to enjoy the view of the cove, the wonderful sunsets, the quaint areas, the whales, the beaches and all the other pleasures of Gloucester, Rockport and the rest of Cape Ann.
